En Mei Huang wins first place in the 8-11 category with her entry titled “New Alternative Energy Car.” (GCA)

Two elementary students of Grace Christian Academy won top awards in the 8-11 division of the 2021 Toyota Dream Car Art Contest, which means their entries have qualified to complete with other entries worldwide.

Third grader En Mei Huang won first place, while fifth grader Eun Ho Amy Park won third place in their category of the 2021 Toyota Dream Car contest. They recently attended the awards ceremony with limited guests due to COVID-19 restrictions at the Atkins Kroll Toyota showroom in San Jose, Saipan. Both of their entries will be entered in the worldwide contest.

Huang has already won several islandwide art contests, including first place in the 2019 Toyota Dream Car contest when she was in first grade. The title of her latest artwork is “New Alternative Energy Car.” She said her car has a machine that can suck virus and dirt and convert them into fuel.

Eun Ho Amy Park holds her winning entry, titled “Helping Car.” (GCA)

Ho was happy to win in this art contest for the first time, with her artwork titled “Helping Car.” She said her car can help deliver food and goods like COVID-19 vaccine to the people who need them.

GCA Art teacher Esther Manzano commended both students on their artwork. “Keep [being creative]” she mentioned in her written encouragement comment in the world contest entry sheet for both students.

More than 80 countries participate in the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest, which invites children from around the world to draw their dream cars. The winners of each category will participate in the world contest in which a grand prize winner from each category and two special award winners will be selected. Each winner will receive $5,000 to spend on educational resources and supplementary prizes of $10,000 will also be awarded to their school to spend on educational resources.
