Rebate program will help residents replace old appliances
The CNMI Energy Division Office announced yesterday the launch of a rebate program that would allow CNMI residents to replace old, inefficient appliances with qualified energy-efficient Energy Star-rated products for a limited time or until funds run out, whichever comes first.
Funds are limited and rebate vouchers are available on a first-come, first-served basis, for Saipan, Tinian and Rota residents.
Appliances must replace existing models. Residents with newly constructed or renovated homes are eligible to apply for new purchases of qualified Energy-Efficient or Energy Star-rated appliances. Residents impacted by the devastations of Typhoon Mangkhut and Super Typhoon Yutu are eligible, provided they have not already received similar assistance from local, federal or private entities. Additional requirements or conditions may apply.
Rebate applications will be available for distribution to the public beginning April 20, 2021, at the CNMI Energy Division Office at House 1337, Ascencion Dr., Capital Hill, Saipan.
For Tinian and Rota residents, applications will be made available at the following designated dates, times and locations:
TINIAN:
May 7, 2021, 9am – 4pm, Tinian Youth Center
May 8, 2021, 9am – 4pm, Tinian Youth Center
ROTA
May 12, 2021, 1pm – 4pm, Rota Youth Center
May 13-14, 2021, 9am – 4pm, Rota Youth Center
Due to the continuing threat of COVID-19, the public is required to observe and comply with all health and safety protocols. Masks are required at all times during the program services hours of operations.
