NMTI board OK’s recruiting admin staff
The Northern Marianas Technical Institute board of trustees has given NMTI interim chief executive officer Jodina Attao the green light to bring in administrative staff to ease her process of settling into her new role.
At the NMTI board of trustees special meeting last April 9, the board reviewed Attao’s workload since she stepped into her interim CEO role last March 20 and then authorized her to hire new administrative staff, including a human resource officer, to alleviate her workload.
The board agreed that once a human resources officer is appointed, s/he will assist with the contracts for staffing, plus creating the employee handbook and code of conduct.
According to NMTI board chair Mario Valentino, NMTI has enough funding to bring in at least a human resource officer, but trustee Rick Kautz noted that the hiring process is slightly different from those of the CNMI Office of Personnel Management.
After some back and forth, the board proceeded to adopt a set of rules and regulations governing the hiring of administrative staff that could be changed over the course of time.
