Mark O. Rabauliman

Mark O. Rabauliman resigned last week as Commerce secretary and is now serving as director of Economic Development within the Department of Commerce, Saipan Tribune learned yesterday.

Press secretary Kevin Bautista confirmed that Rabauliman resigned as Commerce secretary effective March 28, 2021, and that he is now the director of Economic Development.

Bautista said Edward Tofila Deleon Guerrero is acting Commerce secretary.

In a letter to Gov. Ralph DLG Torres, Bautista said, Rabauliman thanked Torres and Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios for the opportunity to serve the CNMI as head of Commerce. Bautista said Rabauliman expressed his gratitude to the entire staff and directors of Commerce and expressed optimism for his new position within the department as director to take on the increased demands of the CNMI’s economic recovery.

In his letter, Rabauliman said the Torres-Palacios leadership has “taken us all to a whole new level, where many strides have been made in moving the administration’s platform toward the CNMI’s economic recovery.”
