A Korean woman, who is said to be in her 40s, nearly drowned yesterday morning in Susupe, according to a source, who said the victim is now in the Saipan hospital’s intensive care unit.

The source said a group of swimmers near the Guma Sakman in Susupe where the tanks are located spotted the woman with her face down in the water and noticed that she wasn’t moving. The group then checked on her and realized that she wasn’t breathing. Quickly, the group brought her to shore and called 911, while attempting to resuscitate the victim.

Responding paramedics rushed the woman to the Commonwealth Health Center where she is now in the intensive care unit. As of 8pm yesterday, it was learned that the woman is still in the ICU.

The source said the Korean woman is said to be in her late 30s or early 40s. Her identity has yet to be determined.

Department of Public Safety public information officer Dre Pangelinan said the woman had a pulse when she was rushed to the hospital. Pangelinan said DPS will issue more details of the incident later.
