Law firm, IPI agree on payment plan
A law firm that is suing Imperial Pacific International (CNMI), LLC to collect on $120,000 worth of attorney’s fees and expenses has come to an agreement with the casino company on a payment plan to settle their disagreement.
In line with this, the law firm—Banes, Horey, Berman, and Miller, LLC—and IPI asked the U.S. District Court for the NMI to issue an order reflecting their agreement: IPI will pay the law firm $15,000 by April 5 and then $12,500 on the fifth of each month thereafter.
Both IPI and the law firm submitted their stipulation to the district court last Tuesday.
In their motion for an order in aid of judgment, it was agreed that IPI’s final payment will include post-judgment interest at the rate the court will approve, along with attorney’s fees and costs.
The law firm sued IPI in district court last September 2020 for breach of contract, implied breach of contract, and quantum meruit. The law firm claimed that IPI owes them $120,000.
According to Saipan Tribune archives, the law firm represented IPI in two civil lawsuits filed by Pacific Rim Land Development LLC in the mechanic’s lien action and defamation lawsuit filed by USA Fanter Corp. Ltd. In the other lawsuit they represented IPI in filing a complaint against FSM Recycling Corp. relating to theft of construction materials at the IPI warehouses.
