Northern Mariana Athletics has decided to reschedule the NMI Women’s Run 2021 to March 27.

“We would like to thank all of the runners who have already signed up for the NMI Women’s Run 2021. We realized that many of you are busy with the current situation or may have concerns. In order to assist you and make this first Women’s Run as successful as possible, NMA has decided to postpone the event until March 27, 2021,” NMA said in a press statement.

The NMI Women’s Run will offer opportunities for runners to participate both virtually and face-to-face, and bring the 2021 Women’s History Month to a close. The face-to-face run will take place on the official 10K race course, starting at American Memorial Park by the Hyatt Regency Saipan with a turnaround point across Ladera Building in Beach Road. This is a 10K race for women only and participants can enter both individual and team categories. In the team category, four women will complete the 10K distance and the Top 3 times will be added up to give a composite time.

In the virtual event, participants can run distances of 5K or 10K. Men are also welcome to come out and support the important women in their lives in the virtual event as well. Participants can complete the distance of their choice wherever they like during the entire month of March, including on a treadmill. The virtual event also includes a team category.

NMA is hosting the NMI Women’s Run 2021 in support of the International Women’s Day (March 8), which started over a century ago as a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality and supports the World Athletics goals of Being Active by creating activities that support performance, culture and healthy lifestyle and the goal of Athletics for a Better World by increasing social inclusion.

“We are inviting all to #ChooseToChallenge by coming out during the Month of March, running a distance of their choice and helping to honor women the world over,” NMSA general secretary Robin Sapong said.

NMA has partnered with Race Roster, an online registration site used by many federations in Oceania Athletics, to enhance its presence online and make it easier for CNMI residents to participate. Registration is open online at: https://raceroster.com/events/2021/45389/nmi-10km-womens-run. (PR)
