GCA 1 dominant as grass v-ball kicks off

Grace Christian Academy 1 showed it can adapt to a new playing surface as it went undefeated in last Monday’s start of the boys division of the 2021 Middle School Grass Volleyball League at the Commonwealth Ports Authority Airport Field.
GCA 1, made up of Sui Yi, Kyle Moon, Tristan Raho, Theodore Rodgers, Tyron Joe Saures, and Kenny Zhang, took the early lead in standings after sweeping all five of its matches.
GCA 1 flexed from the get-go, coasting by GCA 2, Tinian Middle School, Saipan International School 1, Francisco M. Sablan Middle School 1, and ChaCha Oceanview Middle School.
In its first matchup of the day against GCA 2 at around 3:30pm, GCA 1 hammered its sister team, 21-6. In its second match at around 4:30pm, GCA 1 eased past TMS, 21-12. In its next match against SIS 1 at 5pm, GCA 1 took an easy 21-5 win. Later at 5:30pm, GCA 1 topped FMS 1, 21-12, followed by its conquest of Cha Cha, 21-5.
Hopwood Middle School finished No. 2 in the standings at 5-1 with its only loss courtesy of SIS 2.
Hopwood bested Dan Dan Middle School 2, FMS 1, Cha Cha, Mount Carmel School, and SIS 1.
In its matchup against DMS 2, Hopwood edged its foe, 21-16, in the 2pm match. In its game against FMS 1, Hopwood crushed its opponent, 21-9, before going on to conquer Cha Cha, 21-17.
MCS proved to be a tough nut to crack for Hopwood with the latter winning the set by a mere 2 points, 21-19. Hopwood later overwhelmed SIS 1 21-7. Hopwood lost a nail-biter against SIS 2, 19-21.
TMS closed out the Top 3 in the standings with 4-1 win-loss card with wins against DMS 1 (23-21), SIS 2 (21-17), GCA 2 (21-11), and SIS 1 (21-15).
SIS 2 was fourth in the standings with victories over FMS 1, GCA 2, MCS, and DMS 2. SIS 2 conquered FMS 1 in their 3:30 match, 21-18, before defeating GCA 2, 21-19, at 4:30pm. Later, SIS 2 faced off with MCS to take a 21-14 win. DMS 2 then forfeited its match against SIS 2.
Also playing last Monday were SIS 1, who won three of six games; MCS, who won three of four games; FMS, who won two of five games; Cha Cha, who won two of six games; and DMS 1, DMS 2, and FMS 2, who each won a game.
