After nearly five years of serving the CNMI community, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Saipan will be temporarily closing their doors in Garapan this Saturday, March 13.

“Since March 2020 we have all experienced the devastating effects that COVID-19 has had on our community, our economy and our business organizations. We have explored many options to counter the negative impact this pandemic has had on us all in many ways. Unfortunately, we find that we must make some further difficult decisions and are faced with closing another restaurant temporarily,” said Robert H. Jones, chairman and CEO of Triple J Enterprises, Inc., which is the local franchisee of Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

Triple J will continue to monitor the economy and reopen when market conditions improve and intends to rehire staff when it does.

“We value our employees and their dedication to our company and are extremely proud of their perseverance during such unprecedented times. Our incredible team truly made an impact not only in our restaurant, but in the community, taking part in pandemic relief efforts and volunteering their time when our community needed it the most. Our priority is to provide support to all affected employees to make this transition as smooth as possible and work closely with them to avail of all qualifying relief programs,” Jones said.

Jones added, “We wish to express our sincere gratitude to all our great customers for their patronage this past five years, and the fine cooperation and assistance we have received from HS Lee Construction Company, our landlord.”

The Garapan location is the 16th international Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. to open its doors back in May 2016. Triple J announced the temporary closure of Tony Roma’s and Capricciosa in July 2020.

The community is encouraged to visit Bubba Gump for their favorite southern comfort seafood and shrimp dishes, for dine-in or take-out, before their doors close on Saturday.

Surf Club Restaurant and Great Harvest Bakery & Café will continue daily operations. (PR)
