Non-profit organization Tasi to Table Inc. is hosting a student-led fishing tournament called Wahoo in the Marianas at the Smiling Cove Marina in Puerto Rico this Saturday, March 6.

In line with this, all fishing enthusiasts are invited to participate in this tournament. The grand prize winner will receive a $2,000 cash prize, the second-place winner will receive $1,500, and third-place winner will receive $1,000. Other prizes may be made available for fourth and fifth place winners and will be announced at the registration.

Registration for the Wahoo in the Marianas fishing tournament will begin tomorrow, March 5, from 4 to 6pm at the Smiling Cove Marina. A $200 fee covers one captain and two anglers. Additional anglers will cost $25.

Due to unpredictable weather patterns in the CNMI, dates for registration and tournament are set, but may still change based on those circumstances.

TTT youth clubs met last Feb. 6 to finalize the working committees that are tasked with the overall direction of the tournament. The committees formed are for registration, logistics, solicitation, marketing and PR, ground set up, finance, and distribution.

The assigned TTT officer for this event, Gene Weaver, who also serves as TTT president, will provide overall guidance and brings his vast experience in coordinating and organizing fishing tournaments on Saipan.

The event is sponsored by Mobil Oil Marianas and IT&E.

“Mobil is honored to sponsor Tasi to Table’s annual student-led Wahoo in the Marianas fishing tournament. We support TTT’s unique opportunity to take students’ learning beyond the classroom and into the community,” said Anthony Wenceslao, Mobil Oil Marianas Commercial Fuels area manager.

“IT&E is a proud sponsor of TTT’s student-led Wahoo in the Marianas fishing tournament. We are elated to see the progress of how far they’ve come and knowing that our youth are in control of the event,” said Paul Guerrero, IT&E Enterprise Key Accounts mManager.

WIM is a fundraising activity for the Tasi to Table Inc. to support its outreach efforts in schools.
