US Army recruiter promoted to SFC

After 17 years of active service in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army recruiter Staff Sgt. Romeo Igisomar was promoted to sergeant first class yesterday morning in a ceremony held at the Laly 4 Beach in Chalan Kanoa, where Igisomar had grown up.
Igisomar later said his promotion feels rewarding and gives him a sense of accomplishment for all the hard work he’s done through the years.
Igisomar recounts that he was studying at the Northern Marianas College when he was inspired to join the Army after learning about the educational benefits it offered at the time.
Igisomar originally wanted to work in the courtroom, whether as a lawyer or a paralegal. He liked the idea of working in that environment and didn’t imagine he would join the U.S. Army. But then, Igisomar said he was able to experience working as a paralegal for several years while in the Army and is thankful to have that opportunity.
After many years of active service, Igisomar returned to the CNMI to become a recruiter, with a mission to share with the community what the Army can offer and to inspire others. “I went out there and did it, and you can do it too,” he said.
Igisomar’s wife and three sons keep him determined to reach his goals. He said his promotion is something he truly worked hard for.
There are certain requirements and service procedures that must be met in order to be promoted to any rank and it takes a lot of time and effort, he added. (Neil Fama)
