There is a high rip current risk expected through Wednesday night.

Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point dangerous rip currents are expected along east facing reefs on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota through Wednesday night.

Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. Into deeper water.

Residents of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota are advised to avoid venturing near reef lines facing east. Inexperienced swimmers should stay out of the water. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don’t swim against the current. Swim in a direction parallel to the shoreline, then head in to shore when you get out of the current. (PR)
