DOCOMO Pacific appoints new president and CEO
TAMUNING, Guam—DOCOMO Pacific, Inc. announced yesterday the appointment of Jonathan Kriegel as DOCOMO Pacific’s president and chief executive officer. Kriegel brings over 20 years of valuable industry experience to his new role, having recently led Vodafone Group’s Partner Markets business and Business Development in Asia.
Kriegel replaces Jay Shedd, who has served as DOCOMO Pacific’s CEO since 2008. “I made a commitment to NTT Docomo to remain as the head of Docomo Pacific throughout the merger and integration of the two great companies. Now that the merger is complete, I will be taking time to pursue other opportunities,” said Shedd.
“I would like to thank Jay Shedd for his leadership and contributing to our business development over the past six years and I wish him the best,” said Yasuhrio Suzuki, executive director, Global Business Division of NTT Docomo Inc. “Vodafone has been a long time partner of NTT Docomo and we have worked closely with Mr. Kriegel for several years. We feel fortunate to welcome such an outstanding leader to Docomo Pacific.”
“We welcome Jonathan Kriegel’s experience and leadership to the DOCOMO Pacific family,” said DOCOMO Pacific’s chief marketing officer Thomas Higa. “In his new role as [CEO], he will be responsible for strengthening our integrated services and products through strategic management of our mobile operations and the high-speed, large-volume fiber optic network that DOCOMO acquired last year. We will take advantage of Mr. Kriegel’s expertise in all aspects of telecommunications to continue to offer innovative products and services and to deliver best-in-class customer service in both Guam and the CNMI.”
Kriegel said, “I am excited to join DOCOMO Pacific, and I look forward to working with the talented management team and staff who made the company Guam’s leading telecommunications provider. I plan to continue improving the quality of the network, enhancing customer service and expanding the range of products available to our customers from DOCOMO Pacific’s unique bundle of services including mobile, cable television, Internet, and home phone. We will continue to build on innovative solutions like the FUSION plans by working closely with NTT DOCOMO and our partners to bring our customers the most exciting products and services.”
Kriegel’s previous roles at Vodafone include managing its strategic alliances with China Mobile and NTT DOCOMO, Strategy, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Corporate Governance. He also served First Pacific Co. as chief operating officer (Mobile) and managing director (Paging) in Indonesia, and earlier as deputy group treasurer in Hong Kong. Kriegel brings strong experience working with mobile network operators across Asia to improve their operating and financial performance. He began his career as a retail banker in San Francisco, California. Kriegel earned an MBA in Finance at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in History from Pomona College.
