When Evelyn Baetiong lost her job during the covid-19 pandemic, she knew she had to keep working somehow to survive. By asking herself what she loves doing the most that she can share with the community, it was like a lightbulb that said “baking” and that is how 3’s Marias Kitchen was born.

“3’s Maria’s Kitchen is a bakeshop and a cakeshop. We sell a variety of baked goods like custard cake, brazo de mercedez whole or slice, and many more. What sets as apart from other bakeshops is we offer specialties—cake in a can and choco butternut… Our products are made through passion and love and since I have dual roles—owner and baker—I make sure that all of our products are fresh, unique, and tastes good,” she said.

“I also do customized cakes for any occasion and listen to clients what they want in terms of décor and design of the cake… For now we only do take-out but one of the future plans include adding more products for dine-in operations,” she added.

From a simple hobby turned into business, Baetiong said she took her time because she did not want to make mistakes. “I started purchasing baking tools and items to complete my equipment. At first, I was just taking orders from home when friends ask me to bake cakes for them.”

She added “The same friends pushed me to open shop and share the baked goods to a bigger segment of the community.”

3’s Maria’s Kitchen’s cake in a can starts at $5 a tub, eight pieces of choco butternut is only $5, and according to Baetiong, the cost of customized cakes depends on the size and design that the customer wants. “One thing is for sure, I do not overcharge customers. We want our customers to be satisfied with the products that they paid for,” she said.

“Most of our old and new customers are happy and they keep on coming back to try our other products. I get feedback that our products taste good. My advice to other entrepreneurs is to not be afraid to follow their passion…when they know they can do it, just do it. Don’t think of excuses because God will provide,” she added.

3’s Maria’s Kitchen is located at Island 7 Color Building across Surfrider Resort Hotel along Beach Road in Chalan Kanoa and they are open everyday from 8am to 6pm. For more information, call (670) 788-0212, email evelynbaetiong@gmail.com, and like their Facenook page “3’s marias kitchen.”
