Temporary closure of AMP Court of Honor
The American Memorial Park management would like to inform the public that the Court of Honor will be closed to the public for several weeks.  Construction is underway at the memorial to replace flag poles damaged during Super Typhoon Yutu.  After the new poles are installed, the park looks forward to once again flying the flags of the Navy, Marines, Army and Coast Guard—honoring all those who fought bravely on these island shores and surrounding seas during World War II. (NPS)

Tuesday’s jury selection cancelled

2 from Saipan graduate from Concordia U
Kimberly Babauta and Isaac Tenorio, both from Saipan, have earned their Master of Education degrees at Concordia University in Nebraska. Babauta and Tenorio were two of 626 students who were conferred undergraduate and graduate degrees this fall 2020 semester at Concordia University. (PR)

SINMI monthly meeting on Thursday
The Soroptimist International Chapter of the Northern Mariana Islands will hold its monthly luncheon meeting Thursday, Jan. 14, at 12pm noon at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan’s World Café Buffet. ‘Medicazre and You; handbook now available
The Medicare & You 2021 handbook is now available for pickup at theyour congressional district offices of Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (Ind-MP) on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. This handbook contains everything you need to know about your Medicare coverage, including information on changes to Medicare this year. Public warned of beach hazards
The public is being warned of a high risk of rip currents and Indo-Pacific men-o-war jellyfish through 6am today, Monday.

Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Guam and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, Indo-Pacific man-o-war will be present along northeast, east and southeast facing beaches, while dangerous rip currents will be present along east facing reefs. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. Contact with man-o-war, alive or dead, can cause extreme pain.

The public is being warned to avoid venturing out along east facing reefs. Strong rip currents will be life threatening. Swimmers should remain out of the water. (PR)

Guam tax refunds out
HAGATNA, Guam—The Department of Revenue & Taxation has processed and the Department of Administration will mail 1,391 2019 tax refund checks this week.

The checks total approximately $3,194,124, including refunds garnished to repay government debts, for error-free returns filed on or before July 11, 2020.
