The Saipan Lions Club is teaming up with first lady Diann T. Torres and Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios’ wife, Wella Palacios, to offer Fitbeat classes in what will be called the Saipan Fitbeat Lions Club, with Vince Cabrera as charter president.

According to club organizer Ladyvir Canape, Torres and Palacios will be offering the Fitbeat classes. “Their advocacy…is about health and wellness,” said Canape.

The group will be at the Garapan Central Park Roundhouse from Monday to Saturday, from 5:30pm to 6:15pm, for Core Plus, a core strengthening class, and 6:30pm to 7:30pm for Zumba/Aero dance class.

The sessions are free to the public “as their way of giving back to the community,” said Canape. With this effort, the Lions Club decided to make their group official and become the 8th Lions Club of Region 2 District 204 and its “guiding lions” are Martha Badelles and Canape.

“Lions clubs are ready to help, they are making a difference around the world. That’s because whenever Lions clubs get together, problems get smaller and communities get better,” said Canape. The international club has 48,000 clubs and 1.4 million members in over 200 countries, making Lions Club International the world’s largest service organization.

The motto of Lions Clubs International is ‘We serve,’” said Canape.
