‘Powerpuff’ race in MRA

The Marianas Racing Association marked the start of the 2021 season with an all-female race dubbed as “Powerpuff” Class last Sunday during the MRA Series 6 at the former CowTown Raceway in Marpi.
Edinna Cepeda, Shaniah Alvarez, Nanako Celis, Billie Pangelinan, Melsh Cepeda, Harley Susulin, and Maribel Igitol negotiated five laps of the course for the first motocross race featuring female riders on Saipan since 2008, according to MRA vice president Cuki Alvarez.
Igitol ended up topping the division, as she won the last three laps. Edinna, who led in the first two laps settled for the runner-up honors, while Pangelinan came in third and was followed by Alvarez and Susulin.

In the Mini 1 Class, M.J. Camacho continued his winning ways, as he led from start to finish in the six-lap race. Siblings Ethan and Devin Yumul joined Camacho in the race with the former placing second.
In the Veterans Class (ATV/Dirt Bike), Melvin Cepeda was the overall finisher, as he was also in front right at the get-go and up to the finish line of the six-lap race. Henry Camacho, riding his ATV, was ranked second, while Ray Yumul placed third. Patrick Cabrera rounded out the finishers list in the Veterans Class.
In the Novice Class, Corry Pangelinan extended his streak in the division after ruling the seven-lap race. He prevailed against Keoni Macaranas, Henry Camacho Jr., Vince Torres, Kier Agda, and Myron Castro.
Meanwhile, MRA’s first race for 2021 also featured competitions in the Peewee 1 and 2 and Expert Open and results of these classes will be reported in Saipan Tribune’s Wednesday edition.
