The Saipan Unity Lions Club and Teen Unity Leos Club teamed up once again last Dec. 27 for their monthly beach cleanup at their adopted area of Tanapag Beach.

The two groups collected a total of 13 bags of trash, not only getting rid of trash from the beach’s shoreline but also raising environmental awareness and making environmental information available to the Saipan community.

“The ever-increasing ocean trash, and plastic waste in particular, has produced nothing less than a global crisis for ocean waters, marine wildlife and habitat, and human health and safety,” the groups said in a statement. “We [aim] to make a difference in our adopted area of Tanapag Beach.”

The cleanup was led by SULC officials Alicia Barbo and Atoy Banting and STULC president Vicky Ancheta. (PR)
