Emie’s kin says thanks
On behalf of my family in the Philippines—my mother and family, Emie’s two daughters, Erika and Francine, and relatives—my brother Ed and I would like to thank each and everyone of you who in one way or another worked zealously to bring justice. My sister Emie’s murder caused great suffering for us and your efforts and service gave us hope and healing. My brother and I especially thank:
The Attorney General’s Office: Attorney General Patrick San Nicolas, Chief Prosecutor Brian Flaherty, Assistant Attorney General Margo Brown Badawy, and former chief prosecutor Shelli Neil;
-The staunch FBI agents: Mr. Haejun Park and Joseph Auther;
-Department of Public Safety: Officer Simon Manacop and other investigators;
-Judge Joseph Camacho and all members of the jury;
-All the witnesses for the prosecution that strengthened the case;
-U.S. Pinoys for Good Governance’s Dr. Celia Lamkin;
-The CNMI government;
-Victim advocates Dixie Inos, The Good Shepherd sisters c/o Sr. Stella Mangona, Lauri Ogumoro, and Guma Esperansa shelter;
-Compassionate Friends group and Nutese staff;
-Mr. Ron Biggers, Scott Dottino, and all of Godfather’s staff who worked with my sister Emie; and
-To all of my sister’s friends.
May God bless all of you who walked with us in our journey of suffering but gave the support and encouragement we needed.
From the bottom of our hearts, “salamat po.” Justice has been served. Our hearts still ache because we lost our sister Emie. We might not be able to bring her life back but you all gave us hope and healing.
