The Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association will be holding a general membership assembly this Thursday, Dec. 10, with the group’s election of officers and updates on the Pacific Mini Games included on the meeting’s agenda.

The meeting will be done virtually and will run from 12:30pm to 1:30pm.

NMIVA president Laurie Peterka will discuss developments about the Pacific Mini Games in her report since beach volleyball is on the calendar of events for the quadrennial competition, which has been moved from 2021 to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Besides updates on the Mini Games that the CNMI will be hosting, Peterka will also report on NMIVA’s memorandum of understanding with the Public School System through the PSS Student Support Services Athletic Program, the Norther Marianas Sports Association leadership and program, Federation Internationale de Volleyball grants, and the Marianas Alliance for Non-Governmental Organizations.

Also on the assembly’s agenda are the updates on referees, coaches, and other technical part of the sport, the group’s financial report, and other issues concerning NMIVA, including health and safety protocols on the pandemic.

Once these issues are discussed, NMIVA will move ahead with the election of officers. (Saipan Tribune)
