LITERARY NOOK
Tragic Trumpty Tweeter Tales
Lies and Rot Tweets Mattered Not
“Politic, cautious, and meticulous;
Full of high sentence, but a bit obtuse;
At times, indeed, almost ridiculous
Almost, at times, the Fool.” (T.S. Eliot, 1888-1965)
Squawking Sounds of D.J. Trumpedupe
Let us turn then, you and me
To the computer screen and see what we will see
Like any other computer nerd
Let’s scroll through multitudinous repeats
Of completely idiotic tweets
Of demandings and misunderstandings
I’m getting forgetful, I grow numb
My neural synapses no longer hum
Should I cover the hole behind my head
Try smarter sleeping on Abe Lincoln’s bed
Golf three days in a row, eat a bigger burger
Try to hide another failing business merger
In cyberspace my daily lies still constantly flow
From islands in my mind where truth won’t grow.
Thoughts Full of Thoughtless Fox
Imagining tonight’s political news broadcasts
red base watchers some awake some comatose
the time between commercial breaks goes fast
POTUS 45 seems muddled, maudlin, morose
on the screen one senses no sign of journalism
but plenty of hearsay and what about this… ifs
ignoring idiotic tweets and those in the know
little discussion of Covid or the national schism
hearing much of conservatives self-righteous difs
the thoughtful fox disdains and displays unbelief
eyes and ears support not news stories days in a row
contributions roll in for a corrupt commander-in-chief
the fox’s crafty message seems carelessly splinted
as in your brain their endless refrain is imprinted.
