Caregivers invited to learn how to manage stress
Caregivers throughout Micronesia are invited to a free one-hour Zoom session to learn how to take care of themselves through the challenges of caring for others.
The Guam/Micronesia Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program through the University of Guam’s School of Health will be hosting two live “Managing Caregiver Stress” sessions:
• 6pm – 7pm on Thursday, Nov. 12
• 10am – 11am on Saturday, Nov. 14
The session will address the role of caregivers, different types of caregiver stress, how to manage stress, and tips on taking care of oneself as a caregiver. Participants will also have an opportunity to engage in a Q&A session after the presentation with Margaret Hattori-Uchima, dean of the School of Health, co-project director of GWEP, and a registered nurse with a doctorate in nursing.

CHamoru commission meeting set
The Kumisión i Fino’ CHamoru yan i Fina’nå’guen i Historia yan i Lina’la’ i Taotao Tåno’ (Commission on CHamoru Language and the Teaching of the History and Culture of the Indigenous People of Guam) will hold its November monthly meeting which has been Rescheduled for Nov. 12, 2020, Thursday from 12:30pm to 3:30pm on a virtual Zoom meeting. Guam warns public vs box jellyfish
MANGILAO, Guam—The Department of Agriculture’s Division of Aquatic and Wildlife Resources Fisheries would like to remind people to be on the lookout for box jellyfish (Physalia physalis). Box jellyfish can be found on the beach or in the water, especially on reef flats. Box jellyfish are anticipated from Nov. 9 to 11, 2020. Both box jellyfish and Indo-Pacific man-o-wars can sting even if washed on the beach and dead. If box jellyfish or Indo-Pacific man-o-wars are seen, notify DAWR Fisheries at (671) 735-0289/82/91/94 or email fisheries@doag.guam.gov. (PR)
Navy trainings set
ASAN, Guam (Nov. 6, 2020) – The U.S. Navy will conduct training in Outer Apra Harbor on the following dates and times:
• Nov. 9 from 9am to 6pm
• Nov. 12 from 9am-11:30pm
The public should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity due to the training.
The U.S. Navy will conduct training in Radio Barrigada on Nov. 9-12 from 9am to 11:55pm. Blank ammunition is authorized for this training. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity.
The U.S. Navy will conduct training in Agat Bay and Outer Apra Harbor on Nov. 9-12, from 9am to 11:55pm. Blank ammunition will be used for this training. Residents in surrounding areas are advised to be aware of units training in the area and should not be alarmed if they hear or see increased activity.
The U.S. Navy will conduct live fire exercises in the open ocean on Nov. 9-12, from 9am to 11:55pm at the following coordinates: 13 ̊26’’N/145 ̊08’’E, 13 ̊42’’N/144 ̊36’’E. Marine vessels are advised to remain clear of the area for the duration of the event and to monitor the U.S. Coast Guard broadcast Notice to Mariners for advisories.
