7,334 early voters as of Saturday
Big turnout seen in last day of early voting
As of Saturday, there were a total of 7,334 early voters in the CNMI and the number is expected to still go up by a large margin as there was a big turnout in yesterday’s early voting.
Commonwealth Election Commission executive director Julita A. Villagomez said that there were a lot of voters last Saturday and yesterday, which was the last day of early voting.
Villagomez described the early voting process in the Commonwealth as having gone smoothly.
The total number of voters yesterday was not available as of press time.
CEC election clerk assistant Edward Seman Bai said that, as of Saturday, there were 6,193 Saipan voters, and 85 Northern Islands voters.
Bai said 139 Tinian voters voted on Saipan, while 374 on Tinian. He said 146 Rota voters voted on Saipan and 397 voted on Rota.
On Saipan, 2124 voted at Precinct 1; 698 at Precinct 2; 486 at Precinct 3A; 1,148 at Precinct 3B; 565 at Precinct 4; and 1,172 at Precinct 5.
The 21-day early voting on Saipan started last Oct. 13, while early voting on Tinian and Rota commenced last Tuesday, Oct. 27.
Early voting started slow. As of last Oct. 24, there were only 3,570 voters who availed of the early voting process in four polling places on Saipan.
There are 18,526 active registered voters in the CNMI.
Tinian and Aguiguan have 1,724, while Rota has 1,931. The Northern Islands have 162 voters.
