$5,000 bail for man who allegedly stole hydraulic jack
The Superior Court has imposed a $5,000 cash bail on a man who allegedly stole a hydraulic car jack from tire shop in Kagman last Oct. 20.
Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio imposed a $5,000 cash bail on Ronald Jr. Leon Guerrero Ealey, 28, last Tuesday for one count of theft.
Ealey, who was wanted by the Department of Public Safety, was arrested last Tuesday and brought to Superior Court for his bail hearing.
At the hearing, Assistant Public Defender Carrie Comstock, who represented Ealey, asked the court to modify her client’s bail and allow the defendant to pay 10% of the bail amount.
Kim-Tenorio ordered Comstock to file a bail modification motion and remanded Ealey to the custody of the Department of Corrections.
He was ordered to return to court on Nov. 5 at 1:30pm for preliminary hearing and on Nov. 10 at 9am for an arraignment.
According to a DPS press release, police responded to a theft incident at the Sun Star tire shop in Kagman at about 3:08pm last Oct. 20.
At the scene, police interviewed an employee of the tire shop who told police that a local male, later identified as Ealey, came to the tire shop on two separate occasions earlier that day. After Ealey’s second visit, a hydraulic jack at the tire shop was found missing.
Upon reviewing footage from the surveillance camera, Ealey was seen pointing one of the cameras to a different location. Unknown to him, though, another camera captured him loading the hydraulic jack onto his vehicle before fleeing the scene.
