With early voting slow but smooth on all three islands, the Commonwealth Election Commission reminded voters yesterday that the last day to cast early votes will be on Monday.

CEC executive director Julita A. Villagomez noted that voters from Tinian, Rota, and the Northern Islands who are currently on Saipan should vote on or before Monday.

If these voters fail to vote by Monday, Villagomez said they will have to go back to their respective islands just to vote.

She said that polling sites will be open tomorrow, Saturday, but closed on Sunday.

She has not heard of any issues relating to the seven-day early voting on Tinian and Rota that started Tuesday.

On the Northern Islands’ voting, Villagomez said the CEC team, accompanied by a police officer and a staff at the Office of the Public Auditor, will be leaving Saipan today, Friday, for the Northern Islands by a chartered boat to get the votes of 10 people.

There are currently six voters on Agrigan, one on Pagan, and three on Alamagan.

Villagomez said the total number of voters on the Northern Islands is 162, but most of them are currently residing on Saipan.

Early voting for the Northern Islands voters who are currently on Saipan is at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.

As of last Saturday, 3,570 voters have already availed of the early voting process in four polling places on Saipan.

There are 18,526 active registered voters in the CNMI.

Precinct 6 or Tinian and Aguiguan has 1,724 voters, while Precinct 7 or Rota has 1,931.
