CEC team to leave Friday by boat to get 10 votes from Northern Islands

The 21-day early voting for Saipan and the Northern Islands enters its second week today, Tuesday, with 3,570 having already cast their votes as of Saturday—covering 11 days—at four polling places.
As this developed, Commonwealth Election Commission staff is planning to leave Saipan this Friday for the Northern Islands via a chartered boat to get the votes of 10 people from up north.
CEC executive director Julita A. Villagomez said yesterday that two CEC poll workers will be accompanied by one police officer and one staff from the Office of the Public Auditor.
Villagomez said the seven-day early voting on Tinian and Rota will start today, Tuesday.
CEC election clerk assistant Edward Seman Bai said yesterday that of the 3,570 people who have voted early on Saipan as of Saturday, most are from Precinct 1 with 1,152, followed by 618 from Precinct 5, and 581 from Precinct 3B.
Bai said 395 voted from Precinct 2; 283 from Precinct 3A; and 322 from Precinct 4.
From Precinct 4D or from the Northern Islands there were 57; from Precinct 6 or Tinian and Aguiguan there were 83; and 79 from Precinct 7 or Rota.
With respect to getting votes from the Northern Islands, Villagomez said the CEC team is expected to be back on Saipan after four to five days.
Villagomez said there are currently six voters on Agrigan, one on Pagan, and three on Alamagan.
As of yesterday, CEC has yet to disclose how much it costs to charter the vessel.
Villagomez said the total number of voters in the Northern Islands is 162, but most of them are currently on Saipan.
Early voting for those Northern Islands voters who are currently on Saipan is ongoing at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.
There are 18,526 active registered voters in the CNMI. Precinct 6, or Tinian and Aguiguan, has 1,724, while Precinct 7, or Rota, has 1,931.
