On Sunday, Oct. 25, 2020, at about 8:24pm, Highway Patrol Units of the Department of Public Safety were dispatched to a reported car crash at the Chalan Monsignor Guerrero and Chalan Tun Antonio Apa street light on As Terlaje hill.

At the scene, officers came upon a blue four-door sedan with extensive damage to the front end that had collided with the concrete base of the traffic signal light post. Officers found an unresponsive male in the driver’s seat. Officers tried to get a response from the individual but could not get any, officers then checked to see if the operator had a pulse but did not find any.

Shortly after, a traffic investigator and medics from the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene and confirmed that the victim had no pulse and was not breathing. The victim was immediately extracted from the vehicle, medics immediately tried to revive the victim using chest compressions, and he was rushed to the Commonwealth Health Center. CHC Emergency Room staff managed to revive the victim and he was later moved to the intensive care unit and listed in critical condition.

Officers later learned from the on-duty physician that no serious injuries were found other than a few fractured ribs, lung contusion (which could have been caused by fractured ribs), and cardiac arrest. At this time, the driver remains in critical condition under ICU and is being monitored by CHC staff. (DPS)
