NMC employees elect new Staff Senate members

Staff members of the Northern Marianas College recently elected new members to its Staff Senate.

The Staff Senate serves as the official representative body of the college’s administrative and support staff. Primarily focused on addressing general staff issues and in making corresponding recommendations to the NMC president, the Senate is an important part of the college’s participative governance structure.

Part of the Staff Senate’s responsibilities includes assisting in determining the need for, initiating and developing, and reviewing policies that affect the staff.

The new Staff Senate officers and members are:

Executive Committee: 

-President: Geri Rodgers, Budget and Finance Committee, College Council
-Vice president: Diana Hocog (sits on Program Review, and Outcome -Assessment Committee representing Rota Center), Action
-Secretary: Malyssa Castro, Action, Policy
-Treasurer: Kyanna Tenorio, BAFC

Senators-at-large:
-Ryan Calvo, College Council, Policy
-Daisie Camacho-Renguul, Policy
-Jean Castro, PROAC (in lieu of Diana), Action
-Polly Omechelang, Action
-Roxanne Torres, Ad Hoc, Policy

“I’m excited to serve as a senator for the staff,” said Rodgers. “Our vision is to continue the work of increasing staff morale. We have plans to support the college’s mission, to build up one another, and to have a great time working at NMC.”

“I would like to congratulate the newest members of NMC’s Staff Senate,” NMC interim president Frankie Eliptico said. “The new senators all possess extensive experience and are all very much committed to NMC’s mission. I look forward to working and collaborating with the newly elected staff senators.” (NMC)
