Drivers written testing center closed half-day on Friday and all day on Monday
On Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, the drivers written testing center will be closed from 7:30am through 12:30pm for staff training and will resume services at 1pm that day.
It will be closed all day on Monday, Oct. 26, 2020, for continued training and certification. Drivers written testing will resume the following day on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, at 7:30am.
All other services, including on-road driving tests, vehicle registration, boat registration, and driver’s license renewal are not affected.

OVR sets public outreach
The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation will be conducting business and employer engagements regarding various programs offered by OVR for clients/consumers throughout the islands of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. These may include private and public sectors, government agencies, residential visits and religious entities (churches).

5.3-magnitude quake at Alamagan
At 11:38pm on Oct. 20, 2020, a report of a 5.3-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Alamagan region of the Northern Mariana Islands. Currently, there are no tsunami warnings or advisories issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. For more information, contact the CNMI EOC State Warning Point at 237-8000. (PR)
Scheduled power interruption today
There will be a scheduled power interruption today, Oct. 22, 2020, from 9am to 1pm for the Kagman 3 Phase 3 area. This will allow linemen of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. to replace rusted power pole hardware on 15 primary power poles along Lalanghita Road in Kagman 3 Phase 3. Because of the scale of work that will be performed, CUC asks travelers to take alternate routes or to exercise caution when driving through the working area. (PR)
National novel-writing month starts soon
November is National Novel-Writing Month, more popularly known as NaNoWriMo. The goal is to write a 50,000-word novel in 30 days. If you want to write a novel, or any other book, there’s nothing like a deadline to help you get it done. Writers age 13 and older can join the worldwide online group at www.nanowrimo.org. Writers under age 13 can join the Young Writers Program at http://ywp.nanowrimo.org. There is no charge to join. But writing must wait until Nov. 1, when the fun starts. (PR)
Bankruptcy seminar in Guam and CNMI
The District Courts of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, in partnership with the Guam and CNMI Bar Associations, are hosting a virtual and in-person Bankruptcy Seminar on Oct. 30,2020, from 8am to 10am (GMT+10).
The seminar is open to Guam and CNMI bar members, banking institutions, lenders, debtors, creditors, real estate agents, brokerage firms, and businesses. You must register with the CNMI Bar Association to attend this second seminar. Registration fee is $25. Continuing Legal Education Credits: Two general credits
