$5K bail for man who allegedly threatened to stab his wife
The Superior Court imposed a $5,000 cash bail on a man who allegedly threatened to stab his wife and burn down her home.
Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $5,000 cash bail on Ricky Michael Jones, a 35-year-old man accused of threatening to kill his common-law wife.
Jones was charged with criminal trespass, assault, and disturbing the peace. He was represented by the Public Defender’s Office during a bail hearing last Wednesday, while assistant attorney general Erin Toolan appeared for the government.
Camacho remanded Jones to the custody of the Department of Corrections and ordered him to return to court on Oct. 7 for his preliminary hearing and on Oct.19 at 9am for his arraignment.
According to the victim’s complaint, Jones showed up at her house on Sept. 27, 2020, and he appeared to have been drinking. She said she was shocked to see Jones at her house and he asked her where she had been and when she refused to answer him, he got aggressive. The victim explained that whenever Jones would visit her place to see their children, she would leave and stay at her grandmother’s place in Papago.
She said Jones raised his voice at her as she would not respond and slammed the door twice before punching a wall. Jones then threw a beer bottle on the floor and threatened to stab the victim and burn the house down.
Jones allegedly also threatened to take the victim’s car and crash it and then cut her head off, according to the victim.
The woman told police that it was not the first time that Jones got physical with her.
Jones’s common-law wife told police that they had been separated for about three months.
