Flags return to full-staff today

All U.S. and Commonwealth flags across the CNMI will return to full staff today, Oct, 1, 2020, 12 days after being lowered to half-staff to honor the passing of the life and memory of Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
In a notice from the Office of the Governor yesterday, it said that they have been notified that Ginsburg has officially been buried beside her husband at Arlington Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
Gov. Ralph DLG Torres issued the proclamation to lower all CNMI and U.S. flags in the Commonwealth soon after Ginsburg passed away, with Torres directing that the flags be kept at half-staff until Ginsburg’s burial.
In his earlier proclamation, Torres described Ginsburg as a trailblazer, “not only within the law profession, but in the history of the United States, and for women everywhere.

“In her 27 years as an associate justice on our country’s highest court, she demonstrated powerful and respectful arguments that brought about greater equality for women and the disabled. She was a fighter to the very end, conducting her duties on the Supreme Court with class while battling cancer. She serves as an inspiration and role model for women everywhere, and her legacy to our laws and our country will never be forgotten.
“As a mark of respect for the life and service of…Ginsburg…President Donald J. Trump ordered that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff immediately at all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the federal government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its territories and possessions until sunset, on the day of interment.” (Saipan Tribune)
