Bridge Investment Group LLC is still moving forward with its casino project on Tinian, according to Sen. Jude U. Hofschneider (R-Tinian), adding that they look forward to BIG opening their facility soon.

Hofschneider said that, although no tourists are coming to the island yet, it does not mean that BIG’s work has stopped.

“They’re still committed to finishing it and we’re working closely with the municipality and working closely with them,” he said.

BIG is building the Tinian Ocean View Resort & Casino. In March 2019, BIG and Wyndham Hotel Group held a hotel management signing ceremony for the Wyndham Hotel brand to create a Tinian five-star luxury hotel.

Hofschneider also disclosed that with the military development on Tinian, there’s several sectors or layers of military components that are moving ahead with their projects.

“But not to discount the delay caused by all these pandemic directives and, of course, the recent [COVID-19] positive case [on Tinian]. That prolonged some of the progress. …But it’s moving forward. You just have to work through this pandemic situation,” he said.

The senator said businesses on Tinian are excited with the current military development and that Tinian right now is just kind of waiting for things to get through with this pandemic. Hopefully, when there is already a vaccine and things go back to normal, they will see an increase in construction activities.

“That construction activities would lure business activities…and establish on Tinian,” Hofschneider said.
