Woman pleads guilty to stealing a cellphone

A woman who pleaded guilty to theft of a cellphone last Tuesday was sentenced to one-year suspended prison sentence.

Evelyn Tricia Michael Singa, 32, pleaded guilty to theft last Tuesday before Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio.

Kim-Tenorio sentenced Singa to a term of imprisonment of one year, all suspended, and will be placed on supervised probation for a period of one year.

Singa was also ordered to pay a fine of $100, including court costs, and probation fees before the expiration of her probationary period that starts this week.

Singa is also prohibited from having direct or indirect contact with the victim, Victor Taitingfong Jr., during her probation.

Kim-Tenorio also ordered Singa to perform 40 hours of community service at a rate of no fewer than eight hours per month. Singa must also complete any recommended counseling and must not commit any felony or misdemeanor while under probation or it would be grounds for revocation of her probation.

Court documents state that Singa stole Taitingfong’s Blu cellphone back on Jan. 3.
