Funding OK’d for road repairs, flood control
House Speaker Blas Jonathan “BJ” Tenorio Attao (R-Saipan) and fellow Precinct 3 representatives expressed their full support for the Northern Marianas Housing Corp. and the Department of Public Works for identifying priority projects in the precinct area.]
The priority projects are:
Beach Road improvement – Placement of base course to be graded and compacted, pavement and resurfacing with inclusion of road markings from American Memorial Park to Pacific Islands Club.
Flood mitigation of Chili St. – Elevation to correct street grade paving, and drainage improvement in and around the San Jose Church in Oleai.
Attao said that, together with Reps. Jose Itibus (R-Saipan), Edmund Villagomez (Ind-Saipan), Ralph Yumul (R-Saipan), Marco Peter (R-Saipan), and Ivan Blanco (R-Saipan), they have been working to secure funding for these priority projects.
“I truly appreciate everyone’s patience as securing full funding remains a challenge. With this federal funding opportunity from the [Economic Development Administration], I am pleased we can move forward with our partnership with the NMHC and DPW teams,” said Attao.
NMHC is currently working with DPW to begin the environmental assessment phase of these projects, among others. (PR)
