Northern Marianas College graduates Ruby Belingon, Allanah Fernandez, Ronnel Ringor, and Han Byeol Pak have joined the list of students who have passed the challenging National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses or NCLEX-RN.

The NCLEX-RN tests an individual’s nursing knowledge, skills and abilities essential to the safe and effective practice of nursing at the entry level. The exam is used by nursing boards in all U.S. states and territories to award nursing licenses.

“I want to congratulate Ruby, Allanah, Ronnel, and Han Byeol on becoming the latest graduates to reach this important milestone of passing the NCLEX-RN,” NMC interim President Frankie Eliptico said.

NMC Nursing Department chair Rosa T. Aldan said that Ruby, Allanah, Ronnel, and Han Byeol have all worked very hard in studying and preparing themselves to pass the NCLEX-RN exam.

“I applaud them for their efforts and dedication and we are very proud of their recent accomplishments,” Aldan said. “I have no doubt that they will do their very best for the people in our community.”

Belingon said her brother, who is on the autism spectrum, is her primary motivation for pursuing a nursing degree.

“It was a no brainer decision for me,” Belingon said. “I understood the complex care needs that he may potentially face with this disability, and worked my way towards that mindset.”

For Pak, her motivation is her older sister, who is also a registered nurse.

Fernandez

“It is rewarding to be able to help people with the knowledge I learned from NMC’s nursing program,” Pak said.

Fernandez said that NMC’s nursing program played a big role in helping her prepare for the NCLEX.

“NMC’s nursing program provided our cohort with Kaplan, a program that provided us with thousands of NCLEX style questions to practice on and a week-long live review,” Fernandez said. “It helped us develop strategies on answering NCLEX questions.”

For Ringor, his advice to students planning to take the NCLEX is to have a strict study plan and to stick to it.

“Find a colleague who has the same goals as you and motivate each other to study,” Ringor said.
