T’was the Night Before X-Mask
T’was hot days in August during COVID 19
humans were social distancing all through the house
many old folks were practicing self-quarantine
except for one very well fed little brown mouse.
When what the heck did our virus weary ears hear
but promises of an old drug called Remdesivir
yet later many major epidemiologists
said benefits for Covid 19 were unclear.
Washable masks were hung by the door, dry and clean
some light blue, homemade, some a sight to be seen.
Most children were sleeping, with ear buds, in their beds
while visions of homeschooling run amuck in their heads.
Next day on TVs there was such a kerfuffle
when 45 appeared with no mask to muffle.
About then my smart phone Android started to rock
with messages and memes on FB and Tik Tok.
Then a little man came on quite bright and real quick
I knew in a moment that he knew every trick
about pandemics and what it meant to be sick.
Dr. Fauci spoke calmly and was ready to show
the science of coronavirus from head to toe,
AIDS research, epidemic problems from the past.
Trump couldn’t stand his intellect, Fauci won’t last.
More rapid than Tweets, off camera, Trump took aim
to put Dr. Fauci down, jealous of his acclaim.
Trump took hydroxychloroquine, says he’s “still here.”
while Dr. Fauci says we will have to wait for a year.
45 suggests Clorox injections? Or radioactive lights?
Demon seed? Quacks seem part of his virus fights.
