Marianas Golf Association vice president Joey Dela Cruz took the MGA August Ace last Saturday at the Kingfisher Golf Links.
The 11-handicapper fired a 40 on the front and improved his scores on the back with a 36 for a gross 76 and net 65. Dela Cruz finished second behind Chris Leon Guerrero in the low net category and since the latter had already secured the June Ace, the former was handed this month’s title. Deleon Guerrero, who had a 24 handicap, carded a gross 87 and net 63 after drilling a 47 in the first nine holes and 40 in the last.
Junior golfer Sebastian Camacho rounded out the Top 3 in after registering a net 68. The 6-handicapper showed consistency at the Talafofo course with his par of 37s for a gross 74, the second-best score in the 23-field. Harry Nakamura, who landed at fourth place in the low net category, had the lowest gross with a 2-under par 70 as he tallied a 36 on the front and 34 on the back. Nakamura also posted a net 68, but lost the battle for third to Camacho via scorecard.
