Paula Bermudes-Castro is appointed Kilili’s congressional district director
Long-time congressional office manager Paula Bermudes-Castro has been promoted to the position of district director.
Bermudes fills the position left vacant by the recent passing of Peter Michael Tenorio, who served Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (Ind-MP) as district director since January 2009.
The district director is responsible for a staff of seven and the congressional offices on Rota, Tinian, and Saipan. She coordinates the work of all three offices responding to inquiries and requests for assistance, helps Sablan in his meetings with constituents, and represents the delegate in the Marianas, when he is at work in Washington, D.C.
In announcing the decision to promote from within to fill the important post of district director, Sablan’s chief of staff, Bob Schwalbach, noted Bermudes’ long experience managing district office operations and that she had been acting district director during Tenorio’s illness.
“We look forward to a smooth transition,” he said. “[Delegate] Sablan’s constituents will continue to receive the high level of attention and support they have come to expect from their congressional office.” (PR)
