Saipan Cares for Animals is looking for volunteers
The non-profit organization Saipan Cares for Animals is looking for more volunteers to help out at their facility in As Gonno.
SCA director Beth Pliscou said Saipan Cares for Animals is the only facility right now that is helping animals on Saipan. “We always need volunteers because we are a non-profit organization. Volunteers keep our facility going and we always need donations, especially with dog food,” she said. Saipan Cares for Animals go through 55 lbs of dog food a day.
“We have about six regular volunteers that we could count on in our facility, but we still do need a lot of volunteers. We have a lot of animals to take care of during the whole day. And it’s nice to help out during the summer time until school starts,” she said.
Saipan Cares for Animals is open regularly for vaccines, tick prevention, and emergencies. They are open Tuesday to Friday from 12pm to 3pm and on Saturdays from 11am to 4pm.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the facility now has a long list of spay and neuter applicants. It normally has a veterinarian that volunteers and comes to the island every month “but it is difficult to travel and have to quarantine for certain days.”
Pliscou thanked the community for its continued support. For more information. you can check out their Facebook page at Saipan Cares of Animals or you can give them a call at 488-2287. (Chevy Alipio)
