The Rotary Club of Saipan’s food distribution on Tinian last Saturday gave away over 180 food care packages at the Tinian Antonio M. Borja Amphitheater and at the homes of elderly recipients.

Rotary Club of Saipan president Sonya Dancoe said in a statement yesterday that the distribution was in collaboration with the Tinian International Women’s Association. She expressed appreciation for the dedication of the club’s members, the contributions of many donors and individual volunteers, and for the warm welcome of the Tinian community.

“[We were] deeply touched by the heartwarming response of the people of Tinian and thankful to the Tinian International Women’s Association for their hard work and collaboration with us to make this a productive and smooth event.  It is wonderful to see many individuals, including Rotaract and the youth, who stepped-up to help support our cause,” the statement added.

The project aimed to reach those individuals that needed help the most during the pandemic and the elderly. “We were able to visit and personally deliver rice to the homebound elderly individuals who were not able to come down to the distribution site. The surprise and smiles on their faces reassure all of us in in the Rotary Club of Saipan that our work for the community matters. This was a very touching and wonderful experience for all and our club will continue to do good in our community.  We thank everyone for making this happen and we look forward to doing what we can to help our community on many levels.  The members were also able to enjoy the beauty of the island at the end of our mission,” the Rotary statement added.

The food distribution’s donors included Micronesian Air Cargo Services Saipan, Tandem Skydive Saipan, D&Q Distributors, Micronesian Brokers, Payless Super Fresh and Truckload Store, Western Sales Trading, Rotarian Hiroko Stewart, RCS past president Marcia Ayuyu, Rotarian Perry B. Inos, Sr., RCS past president and director Ivan Ilmov, Dancoe, RCS past president Curtis Dancoe, Alfred K. Pangelinan, Karidat Social Services, and Rotaract Saipan. (PR)
