On Thursday, July 9, 2020, at about 5:16pm, a screenshot was sent in by several concerned citizens for detectives to review regarding a comment that was made on a social media platform where an individual, John Michael Dalangin, allegedly commented “Someone kill that guy already” in a post related to the Northern Islands trip of Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and YouTube influencer Robert Arrington.

At about 6:10pm, police were able to locate Dalangin and schedule him for further questioning.  Dalangin told police that he had posted the comment through his online Facebook page. It was not immediately clarified whether his comment was directed at Torres, Arrington, or anyone else in his party

At 6:39pm, Dalangin was arrested and transported to the Kanoa Resort in Chalan Kanoa for COVID-19 clearance before being taken to the Department of Corrections to be booked and detained.

The department later issued a statement that thanks the public “for being vigilant and reporting these types of comments. These types of threats will not be taken lightly as the safety and wellbeing of each and every citizen is our number one priority. If you know someone who is making threats online or toward an individual, do not hesitate to call 911. If you would like to remain anonymous, call the CNMI Crime Stoppers hotline at 234-7272.” (PR)
