The CNMI Department of Labor Workforce Investment Agency encourages CNMI employers to avail of its new U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program to upskill, train and prepare their existing workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is an opportune time for employers to close the skills gap between U.S. eligible workers and non-U.S. eligible workers and we are offering such option through the ongoing Apprenticeship State Expansion Grant,” said Labor Secretary Vicky Benavente.

The program is designed to up-skill incumbent workers in demand-driven occupations in the CNMI such as construction, maintenance, hospitality/gaming, allied health and safety, food service, and management or accounting.

Employers will be assisted through the entire process of becoming a recognized U.S.DOL RAP provider.  DOL WIA staff has established the relationship between the Registered Apprenticeship Program and have access to a recognized Apprenticeship Coach to help with the process.  In addition, employers will have access to financial assistance packages to help fund qualified costs of such training as well as a train-the-trainer courses to help with the transfer of information and skills from the trainer to the trainee.

If interested in the program and how it can help you as an employer or incumbent worker, contact the CNMI DOL- WIA Division at 664-1711, email: cnmi.dolase@gmail.com, or visit the CNMI DOL website, www.marianaslabor.net.  (PR)
