Effective June 22, 2020, the Tinian Health Center Laboratory will be available Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 11:30am and 12:30pm to 4:30pm.

The laboratory is now capable of performing a variety of lab tests to assess patients’ cholesterol level, kidney and liver function, blood clotting time, and average blood sugar in the past three months.

This expansion of the health center’s laboratory capacity is just part of efforts to further support primary care and to reduce the waiting time for the results, thereby empowering the physicians’ decision-making.

Improved operations

In January this year, THC welcomed three new general practitioners: Nancy Osakwae, NP; Pamela White, NP; and Edward White, NP, bringing about a long-desired stability to our medical staffing.

The THC primary care providers deliver a broad range of services, including diagnosis and treatment of a health condition, and support in managing long-term health care, including chronic conditions like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, hypertension, and diabetes. Primary care gives community members better access to health care professionals who can help maintain optimal health through regular health checks, health education, and appropriate support for ongoing care.

Use of an appointment system has significantly improved patient flow and promoted a more thorough health evaluation and management. Having a primary care provider ensures continuity of care, effective health maintenance, better communication, and overall increased satisfaction with the services received. As the general health of the population is adequately managed, unnecessary emergency room visits are prevented.

THC began improving its primary care services in November 2019.

The health center is part of the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. For general inquiries about services the THC offers or make an appointment, call (670) 433-9233/ 433-9263.
