A chance to show the CNMI to the world

A YouTube influencer with 2.31 million subscribers, who has allied with the Marianas Visitors Authority to promote the CNMI, said he will make it his mission to show the world what unique features make up the CNMI as he tours the Northern Islands.

Robert Arrington, who hosts the YouTube channel Deer Meat for Dinner with his wife and arrived on Saipan over the weekend, said in a television interview that he wants to put all the faces of the people who make up the CNMI on his YouTube channel in hopes to create more tourists for the CNMI, especially the Northern Islands.

“Whenever I would go home and mention the CNMI, no one knew what that was,” said Arrington. “Rota, Saipan, Tinian, [and] the Northern Islands, no one even knew that that existed.” With his planned YouTube videos of the CNMI, Arrington said he wants to make the CNMI a place that people, all over the world will want to visit.

Gov. Ralph DLG Torres will be accompanying Arrington, his family, and crew to Maug, one of the islands that make up in the Northern Islands. Arrington added that he will be using drones to capture an islandwide view and specific cameras that will allow him and his crew to capture underwater footage.

“Gov. Torres has never been to the island of Maug, so he and I are going to go there, hike to the top of Maug, we’re going to put a CNMI flag and American flag…and we’re going to make a bond that lasts a lifetime,” he said.

His wife, Sarah Arrington, assured that the Arrington family and their crew got tested for COVID-19 before traveling and are negative. She said extra precautions were made during their travel, such as not sitting too close to people and wearing masks all the time. “They give you hand sanitizing packets the second you get on the plane so you wipe everything down. They’re not serving how they normally do, but they instead give you baggies with small items that you want to eat. So they’re not touching every individual thing,” she said. “They’re just taking the proper steps so that everyone stays safe.”

Robert Arrington stated that his trip to Rota will be one that he won’t ever forget, and he knew that if he has the chance to visit Rota again, he will bring his family. He and his wife brought their two daughters, Emma, 2, and Aria, 4.
