Micronesian Legal Services Corp. remains open for business while still doing its part to stop the spread of the coronavirus. With a new Disaster Legal Aid Program, the office is fully open and ready to provide services to those who have unresolved legal issues related to Typhoon Mangkhut or Super Typhoon Yutu.

Your legal questions may involve Federal Emergency Management Agency/Small Business Administration appeals, construction/home repair issues, debt collection, probate, clearing or proving title issues, unemployment insurance or stimulus payments/other benefits, family law, consumer issues, guardianship, rent payments and more.

MLSC has established a new Disaster Legal Helpline. Here’s what you can expect from this service:

-We will do our best to help you on the spot. Recognizing that most legal issues are somewhat complicated, if we can’t help you on the spot, we will call you back within 24 hours. Our goal in providing the Disaster Legal Helpline is to:

–Assess your legal issue, and provide legal information and/or referrals.

–If your matter is one that can be resolved with legal advice, we will screen to see if you meet our eligibility guidelines (income, assets, etc.), and if you are eligible, we will provide legal advice on the phone to the best of our ability.

–If your legal issue is one that we can help with, but you need more help than we can provide over the phone, we’ll set an appointment to discuss your matter in detail.

-How to reach us:

–Helpline #s (670) 235-0027 Saipan ▪ (670) 285-6410 Tinian ▪ (670) 284-0581 Rota

–Email hotline: disaster@mlscnet.org

–Video chat: WhatsApp, Google Hangouts, Skype (Facebook coming soon!)

MLSC has served the people of Micronesia for over 45 years with an open door policy. (PR)
