PSS bus driver arrested for alleged sex abuse of a boy
A Public School System bus driver was arrested Thursday for allegedly sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy at a residence on Saipan between last March 7 and 12.
The suspect, Allan Aguon Lifoifoi, 38, also posted a Facebook livestream on Mt. Tapochau last Thursday morning that he would end his life.
Lifoifoi was arrested on charges of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree, sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree, and disturbing the peace.
Lifoifoi was brought before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho on Friday for a bail hearing. Camacho imposed a $50,000 cash bail and set the preliminary hearing for this Friday.
Assistant public defender Vina Seelam was appointed as counsel for Lifoifoi. Assistant attorney general Samantha Vickery appeared for the government at the hearing.
According to police detective Rosa T. Rios, a woman went to the Department of Public Safety front desk area in Susupe last Wednesday at 9:27am to file a complaint that she just learned that Lifoifoi had sexually abused her son. The report did not indicate how the mother found out about the alleged sexual abuse. The woman reportedly told police that she’s scared because Lifoifoi is a registered gun owner and carries a handgun.
At 12:41pm that same day, Wednesday, police brought Lifoifoi to the DPS Criminal Investigation Bureau where he was questioned and later released pending further investigation.
Last Thursday, shortly before noon, Rios said DPS received multiple calls concerning Lifoifoi who posted a live Facebook feed about ending his life on Mt. Tapochau and refused to speak to anyone except to Rios. Rios arrived on Mt. Tapochau and was able to get Lifoifoi inside the railing of the site where he was deemed safe.
Medics assessed Lifoifoi and brought him home.
Rios said that during an interview last Thursday, the boy disclosed that between March 7 and 12, while his family members were in Guam, he was awakened in his sleep to see Lifoifoi allegedly touching his privates. The boy said he pretended to be still asleep and pushed Lifoifoi’s hand away. Lifoifoi went outside the room, but allegedly returned after 30 minutes and repeated the same action.
The boy said Lifoifoi also sexually abused him when he was between 8 and 10 years old.
Last Thursday at 11:10am, Lifoifoi arrived at CIB for follow-up interview, where he stated he went to Mt. Tapochau earlier that morning as he wanted to end his life. He stated he did do the Facebook broadcast as he didn’t know what to do about the complaint against him. Lifoifoi was then arrested.
