Karidat $1-A-Bag Rummage Sale is back
Karidat Social Service will revive its $1-A-Bag Rummage Sale today, June 11, at the Sister Remedios Community Center in Chalan Kanoa.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Karidat’s rummage sale was shut down but many have been asking when the thrift shop will return.
The rummage sale will begin at 9am and last until 12pm. Karidat is inviting everyone.
“Customers will purchase a plastic bag for $1 and everything they can fit in that bag is just $1. Shoppers may purchase more than just one bag,” said Karidat executive director Lauri Ogumoro.
Generous donations of gently used clothing and household goods came from community members.
“We will allow up to 20 persons into the area. We may also limit the shopping time as needed [to comply with the government’s social distancing measures],” said Ogumoro.
“We are thankful to the community for holding on to their donations during the lockdown. After this rummage sale this week, we will be able to start taking donations again. We therefore ask that the clothing be gently used and clean, as we do not have any way to clean the donations and we all need to do our part to protect each other,” she added.
Karidat’s goal is to have a soft opening of its thrift shop next week, June 15, starting in the mornings from 9am to 12pm.
All proceeds from the rummage sales and thrift shop will go toward restocking the Karidat’s food pantry.
