Back in 2014, owner and founder Lena Ruiz of online shop Lena’s Creations was going through a tough time balancing school, taking care of her parents, and trying to pursue her passion in making handmade jewelry. She finally found balance in 2017 when she almost lost both of her parents due to health conditions.
“As a young adult I didn’t get a chance to experience young adulthood. With almost losing both my parents in the same year, I had no choice but to mature faster and take on responsibilities as the youngest child in the family. I realized I needed to hustle to make ends meet and that is why I decided to leave my four-year housekeeping job to take care of my parents and live out my dream as Lena’s Creations,” Ruiz said.
“Lena’s Creations is jewelry that is handmade by me… I make earrings, necklaces, rings, bangles, sets, and more at affordable prices… I offer one-of-a-kind jewelry with good quality and everything from wire wrapping, looping, and hammering I do all by myself. I put a lot of love into my designs and I take pride in what I do. For me, it’s not just a job, it’s my passion and God has given me such a great gift and it is my chance to show this generation what He has given me,” Ruiz added.
Lena’s Creations is based in Oahu, Hawaii and through social media, has made a good following in Guam and Saipan. “It started with one customer from Saipan and she has been a returning customer ever since and now the base on Saipan is growing… I have been complimented numerous times about my jewelry and they all share that they can see how much love and hard work I put into making my designs,” she said.

“I live on an island just as beautiful as Saipan and my main goal is interpret my jewelry with what I like the most and where I come from. My signature designs are tiare flowers and monstera leaves which are my two favorites and symbolize my character and personality…. Lately, I have been bringing in wood cutouts and engraved Polynesian tribal designs which everyone loves the most. I know that all of my ‘poly’ customers will love to show off their culture with a twist through Lena’s Creations,” she added.
While nurturing and making known her business by going on Facebook Live, Ruiz also gets to help other women in the process. “In every live show, I always showcase something new…Many of my customers told me that I have been a huge inspiration to them and I take pride in that, to know that women who are older than me find me as an inspiration makes me feel I am doing more than just selling jewelry. I’m helping others start their business just by having them watch my progress and how I run things on my own,” she said.
“One of my future plans is to open a shop where I can showcase all my beautiful jewelry and one day expand around the globe…and hopefully to visit Saipan, a huge opportunity for me to promote more of my products and I would definitely love to meet customers from there,” she added.
