The CNMI’s total confirmed COVID-19 cases have gone from 23 to 26.

In an announcement yesterday by the Governor’s COVID-19 Task Force and the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp., it said that three more persons in the CNMI have been confirmed to have COVID-19.

One is a 39-year-old female who is asymptomatic, which means she does not have any symptoms. The individual is currently in isolation at Kanoa Resort in Susupe, and is being monitored by CHCC.

According to the task force’s statement, the individual was identified through community-based testing and confirmed positive at the Commonwealth Health Center laboratory on June 3.

“At the time, the patient’s exposure to the virus is unknown. CHCC’s contact tracing teams are looking into the possibility of exposure through community spread of COVID-19,” said the statement.

Esther Muña, CHCC chief executive officer, stated that the other two cases are “travelers.” However, they are not from the same flight as the 30-year-old female who tested positive last June 2. Muña declined to disclose more information on the two cases.

To date, the CNMI has a total of 26 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with eight active cases, 16 recoveries, and two deaths.

Since this is a rapidly evolving situation, CHCC assured that it will continue to update the community.

Additionally, the COVID-19 Task Force advises the community to avoid spreading misinformation by sharing only official and verified notices, press releases, and advisories from the Governor’s COVID-19 Task Force and CHCC.

COVID-19 in Guam

The Department of Public Health and Social Services in Guam confirmed another positive case of COVID-19 last June 3. According to the Joint Information Center in Guam, this case was identified through community testing and did not report contact to a confirmed case.

An additional case was reported yesterday from the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority. The case recently traveled and was identified while staying in a government quarantine facility. The case tested positive at GMHA.

To date, Guam has 179 cases confirmed COVID-19 cases, with five deaths, 162 released from isolation, and 12 active cases.
