PSS hosts virtual prom

The Public School System has arranged a virtual prom tonight, from 7pm to 10pm, to give graduating seniors a sense of normalcy.

According to Education Commissioner Dr. Alfred Ada, the prom committees of each school joined forces and shared various ideas to come up with the virtual prom. “All high schools already had prom committee way before the shutdown of schools, so the prom committees had ideas, put them together, so this [prom] is going to be different. It’s going to be a virtual prom for all the high schools on the same day,” he said.

The virtual prom will be open to all high schools, including private schools. PSS will send out a link to all schools who are interested.

Since the prom is virtual, Ada said it’s free of charge and there will be chaperones online to filter comments.

The event is a partnership between PSS and KKMP radio station. Students will be able to request songs, request shoutouts, and more.

For those interested in watching the live stream, visit KKMP’s Facebook page or listen to the prom playlist at KKPM 92.1 FM.
